Normand Desjardins is a graduate of l’École des Beaux Arts Montreal and he also obtained a teaching degree from McGill university specializing in art-education in 1978. Although education of the arts, music and drama occupied a large part of his career, he still reserved time for his personal art development. Using the mediums of photography, graphic drawing, painting and sculpture, Normand has documented the coast all the while continuing to explore and create works of art which exemplify the vibrant beauty of the Gaspe. Its people, pristine landscapes and historical spirit captivate and inspire him at every turn. His interpretive style varies from high realism to semi-figurative, alluding to fantasy and the metaphysical world.
He has exhibited solo at the Gaspé Provincial Museum, the Acadian Museum in Bonaventure, the Almond Art Center (New Richmond) of which he was a founding member, the Thompson Art Salon (New Carlisle), as well as having participated in many regional and provincial group exhibitions. His works have sold nationally as well as internationally.
