Artist painter Marie-Reine Lavallée is a native of Balmoral, NB and presently lives in Campbellton. Her unusual sense of observation brings her to use negative spaces in her composition to suggest an artistic expression of her subject. Her works express beautifully the chosen elements which act as inspiration catalysts with an originality known only to her.

Her brush and knife techniques are characterized by the fluidity and audacity in her movements as well as the intensity of her colors. Her medium of choice is oil but she experiments with acrylic, modeling paste, watercolor and ink.

The self-taught artist is a curious and passionate individual. She has been painting seriously since 2010 and has attended courses and classes with renown artists on a regular basis to improve her techniques.
She has been involved in the art community by volunteering at the Restigouche Gallery for many years. The artist participates actively in group exhibits, symposiums, plein air activities and art fairs.
