Through her work as a watercolour artist, Candice Ostroski’s topographical studies capture the charm in everyday scenes around the Chaleur Bay. These scenes combine an appreciation for architecture found among small cities and villages and a love for the salty ocean air that permeates these places. A mixture of watercolour and pen and ink draws you into her peaceful scenes that have a dose of whimsy, and makes special what otherwise could seem mundane. As the artist is self-taught and motivated by a pure appreciation for the art of seeing and the creative release that comes from plein air excursions, her art has a unique style and is easily recognized by its intuitive techniques and refreshing freeness. The artist has taken advantage of numerous art workshops since childhood, was selected as a gifted youth for a workshop at Mount Allison University in 2007, is a member of the Bathurst Art Society since 2014, and has been the BAS Secretary and Marketing Co-Chair since 2017.
