Gilles Cormier

Born in Robertville, New Brunswick, Gilles Cormier currently lives in Dalhousie, New-Brunswick. He is self-taught and multidisciplinary, an artist in his soul who brings the sensibilities of his carving and fine woodworking to his painting and drawing.

He has touched many mediums including oil, pastel, India ink, and watercolour, and today devotes his focus to acrylics. He gives himself complete freedom to try any technique that will serve his purpose and is wide-ranging in his use of materials, especially for achieving texture. For Gilles, the creative journey is more important than working toward a planned result, and he does not hesitate to take a work-in-progress in a new direction.

While painting and drawing are his main disciplines, Gilles has found time to illustrate children's books which have been published by Le Bouton d'Or Acadie and La Grande Marée
