A native of Quebec, Sylvie discovered collage while a student in graphic arts in Montreal. Even though it was an instant seduction, it was only years later that this technique became the principal vehicle of expression of her exuberant creativity.

Sylvie combines paintings in watercolour, drawings, photography, and typography, often using recycled material as ground. She stages fragments, pieces torn both literally and figuratively, incongruously to their surroundings. Symbolism replaces convention, giving the impression of surrealism. As for her palette, Sylvie uses bold and contrasting colours much more than subtle effects, bringing to mind the stylings of murals, graffiti, and cartoons, but also posters.

Sylvie has lived for several years in Dalhousie, NB.
